Annual village curfew

The village of Vaitogi will observe and enforce its annual curfew this year, starting at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023, and ending at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023.

This was confirmed in a letter addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Lefiti Pese, endorsed by the Attorney General, Fainuulelei Alailima Utu.

During the dates in question, entrance and exit of the village are prohibited. The Attorney General requests the Department of Public Safety’s assistance.

The only exceptions are made for emergency medical and police services or reasons.

This is an annual tradition in observance and remembrance of those who perished in a fire that engulfed and caused much damage to Vaitogi many years ago.
