ASCC welcomes New Academic Year with inspirational general assembly
The American Samoa Community College (ASCC) General Welcome Back Assembly was a
success yesterday, August 14, 2023, as Acting Governor Talauega E. V. Ale delivered words of encouragement, emphasizing the profound impact of educators to guide the younger generation towards a brighter future.
The assembly not only marked the beginning of a new academic year but also focused on the importance of resilience, mentorship, and tackling critical issues such as drug prevention in American Samoa.
In his address, Acting Governor Talauega highlighted the pivotal role that educators play in
shaping the future of individuals and the society as a whole. He stated, "You are not merely
administrators, faculty, or staff – you are architects of dreams, cultivators of potential, and
mentors of resilience."
This powerful quote encapsulates the profound impact that educators
have on students' lives, molding their aspirations, fostering their growth, and instilling in them
the ability to overcome challenges.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by the youth, Acting Governor Talauega shared a heartfelt message about the urgency of addressing the drug problem that affects American Samoa.
He stressed the need for educators, parents, and the community to come together and provide a strong support network that guides the younger generation away from harmful temptation. He urged, “Do not give up the fight for our students and the future of American Samoa.”
The Acting Governor closed his remarks wishing the administrators, faculty, and staff a successful school year. ASCC will commence student registration on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 for New Students only, and continue on August 17-18, 2023 for general registration.
