The American Samoa Telecommunications Authority (ASTCA) has restored communication services in Aunuu after services were disrupted on Thursday morning due to severe weather and strong high tides.
ASTCA CEO Chuck Leota confirmed to KVZK News that landlines, broadband and IPTV were down since yesterday due to an equipment failure. Leota said, when they found out about the failure, ASTCA straight away provided free data for 100 minutes and 50 sms to all its customers on Aunuu to keep them connected with families while the crew of ASTCA worked overnight to restore services. KVZK News understands ASCTA mobile service was not affected.
