ASG initiates Maui Donation Drive
The American Samoa Government will host a Maui Donation Drive in the wake of the devastating fire that ravaged the island of Maui.
A general memorandum issued by Governor Lemanu P. S. Mauga, noted the collective grappling with the immense scale of the destruction due to the fire.
He said the Great Aloha state of Hawaii has shown its unwavering support and Aloha spirit during our times of adversity, standing by American Samoa in recovery efforts following past disasters.
Their invaluable assistance has played a crucial role in helping our community rebuild and recover. He said they are grateful for their enduring commitment to lending a helping hand when it is needed most.
It is incumbent upon us to respond in the same capacity and extend our Alofa spirit to the residents of Lahaina.
Lemanu calls on ASG departments, agencies, and offices to band together in a coordinated effort to support our Maui brothers and sisters.
Every dollar donated will provide essential supplies, such as food, water, clothing, and medical aid, to the most severely affected.
The governor acknowledged challenging times; however, any contribution can significantly impact the lives of those in need, no matter how small.
ASG will host a Maui Donation Drive headquartered at the Tufele Li'amatua Sr. Tufele Cultural Center in Utulei (Suiga'ula) to initiate fundraising efforts. The Maui Donation Drive will be launched on Monday, September 4, 2023, at 8:00 am.
