Disbursement Earned Income Tax Credit(EITC)

Treasurer Malemo Tausaga has confirmed that the American Samoa Department of Treasury will start paying out the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) to qualified and eligible individuals on Monday, December 12th, 2022.

For those who filed between the beginning of the year and March 2nd, 2022, this release will cover 4000 taxpayers valued $7.9 million. Not all eligible filers who submitted their tax returns on March 2nd will receive their cash in this batch; instead, they will be included in the second allocation.

All remaining eligible taxpayers who filed on March 2nd, to October 24th, will be included in the second release, which will happen on Monday, December 19, 2022. A total of $6.1 million for 4443 qualifying taxpayers.

The Treasury will issue an announcement for those eligible taxpayers who filed after October 24, 2022.

Those who have mailing addresses will have their checks delivered to the US Post Office, while taxpayers without addresses must pick up their checks at the disbursing office in Utulei.
