Fitiuta Village Council endorses Poumele Pete Poumele as Senator of Manu'a District #1

The Village Council of Fitiuta met on Friday to endorse Poumele Pete Poumele as their nomination for the vacant Senate seat of Manu'a District #1.

The village chiefs confirmed this following their meeting after Fitiuta hosted Government officials at the CCAS Hall in Fitiuta.

The seat is vacant following the passing of Senator Tauiliili Paopao Lauifi of Fitiuta, Manu’a, at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, last week. He was 78.

Poumele serves on the Lemanu and Talauega Cabinet as the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation Director.

According to the Fitiuta Chiefs, they will officially inform the Districts of their decision to appoint Poumele as Senator of Manu'a District #1.
