Gov rescinds earlier decision on TA's for DOE

Governor Lemanu P. S. Mauga has rescinded his earlier decision for travel authorizations for the Department of Education for their travel to be pre-approved by his office in June.

At the time, the Department was overseen by Deputy Directors in the absence of Director Talauega Dr. Samasoni Asaeli.

According to the Governor’s memorandum issued today, effective immediately, GM 147 - 23 requires that the Governor's Office review travel authorizations issued by the Department of Education are hereby rescinded.

In June, the Governor notified the Department of Education about the department’s travels. Lemanu said Travel Authorizations issued by the American Samoa Department of Education and Proper stewardship of the resources of the American Samoa Government should be of utmost importance to everyone in ASG.

The government must see that expenditures are made and monitored appropriately.

To that end, effective immediately, all Travel Authorizations to be issued by the American Samoa Department of Education will be reviewed by the Governor's Office for approval until further notice.
