Governor Lemanu attends opening of Homeland Security FEMA Pacific Partnership meeting in Hawaii
Honorable Lemanu P. S. Mauga, Governor of American Samoa, graced the United States Department of Homeland Security FEMA Region IX Pacific Partnership Meeting opening on August 8, 2023.
The event, which aims to foster cooperation and preparedness in the Pacific region, welcomed Pacific leaders and federal subject matter experts to share about available resources in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
Mr. Robert (Bob) Fenton, the Regional Administrator for FEMA Region IX, extended a warm welcome to Governor Lemanu, highlighting the significance of his presence. "It is an honor to have the Governor of American Samoa with us today. His attendance underscores his deep engagement and the importance he places on matters of security and preparedness in the Pacific," stated Mr. Fenton.
Following the opening, Governor Lemanu and members of the American Samoa delegation, including Director Samana Semo Veavea of the American Samoa Department of Homeland Security and Director Lisa Tuatoo of the Office of Disaster Assistance and Petroleum Management, held a private meeting with Mr. Fenton and team discussing priority needs and projects requesting Mr. Fenton’s assistance.
With heartfelt appreciation, a gift presentation from Governor Lemanu was presented to Mr. Fenton.
“I want to thank you and your team for your support to American Samoa during our times of need, and the assistance we have received to help our territory’s resilience and preparedness efforts are greatly appreciated,” commended Governor Lemanu.
