On June 24, the US Supreme Court officially overturned the ruling that made abortion legal in the United States. According to the decision, the legality of abortion will be up to the states. As a territory of the US, the decision by the highest court in the nation has been the main topic of discussion on social media. Addressing concerns raised by some members of the public about Roe v Wade, Lt Governor Talauega said abortion is legal here in American Samoa to limited situations and both of them has to do with the health of the mother and that is found in the American Samoa Code annotated sections 46, 3901 to 3904.

Many leaders from around the world have spoken out against the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, a ruling they say will restrict access to abortion in the United States as other countries broaden abortion rights.
