Malae Mamea face sex charges

A 26-year-old man has appeared in the District Court on sexual charges involving a 15-year-old female.

Malae Mamea is held on bail of $5,000 on criminal charges of sexual assault, sexual abuse, and endangering a child's welfare.

It's alleged the defendant, who is married, was in a sexual relationship with the complaining witness.

The incident came to light when the girl and her aunt filed a complaint with the Police, as she is a minor. The complaining witness told the Police she created a Facebook page in May, and Malae added her on the same day.

They started their conversation, and he asked her for money.

She further informed Police that Malae picked her up and went to Lyons Park, where they had sex. This happened twice.

Police also spoke to Malae and confirmed the Facebook conversation, but he denied picking her up and engaging in sexual acts.
