Man accused of stalking a woman arraigned in High Court

A man charged with stalking and harassing a woman was arraigned in the high court today. KVKZ has opted not to name the defendant to protect the complainant's identity.

The 25-year-old man is facing charges of attempted assault in the second degree, attempted assault in the third degree, unlawful use of weapons, prohibited weapons, harassment and stalking, with his bail set at $10,000.

It's alleged that on June 7, a woman filed a complaint with the Police regarding her former colleague with whom she was in a relationship.

The woman said when she wanted to end their relationship, but this did not sit well with the defendant, who allegedly threatened to kill her and her family.

According to court documents, the woman told Police she was worried and scared for her life. Also, the defendant showed her his handgun the last time they were together and threatened to kill her if she crossed him.

Police responded and met with the defendant on the road, and when asked to search his vehicle, the defendant adhered.

The car was impounded and transported to Central Police Station. During the search, a handgun and live ammunition were found inside a pink pouch under the front passenger's seat. It was discovered that the gun was unlicensed.
