Man arrested over sexual claims

A retired teacher was arrested Thursday night over claims that he inappropriately touched a 16-year-old boy sitting beside him on an airplane from Hawaii.

This was confirmed by the Chief of Police, Pouuamea Tuaolo Supapo, in response to KVZK questions.

She said the boy in question was sleeping, and the suspect in his 50s was beside him. When the young man woke up, the suspect had his hands over his pants.

It was also confirmed the flight attendant was informed, and the incident was relayed to the Captain, who then contacted the Tafuna Police Station.

The plane arrived at the Pago Pago International Airport, and Police were on standby to apprehend the accused.

They took him to the Police station for investigation purposes. Supapo also confirmed that the former educator had been charged.

However, he is yet to appear in the District Court.
