By: Tosimaeʻa Tupua

Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa hosted a welcoming reception for the delegation from American Samoa last night at the University of Samoa

In attendance were Governor Lemanu P. S Mauga and first Lady Ella Mauga, Speaker Savali T Ale, Paramount Chief Mauga Tasi Asuega, and leader of the opposition Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi.

Governor Lemanu thanked Samoa for hosting his delegation and for working closely with Am Samoa during Covid 19. He said American Samoa will continue to work with closely with Samoa on areas of mutual benefits.

Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa acknowledged our special connection and said Samoa is one family but even family members may disagree from time to time – but a little chat can go a long way – we’ve never stopped communicating. So we’ve worked to reconcile differences as close friends and families often do. I believe our bonds of friendship have become even stronger as we’ve travelled on a path together, building mutual respect and understanding in the process.

Fiame also thanked Governor Lemanu and the American Samoa Government for assisting Samoa during Covid 19 and the Measles.

Being a part of both Samoas, I am so happy to see both island nations come together to discuss, agree to disagree, agree and to have a good relationship. Both Government leaders have made this possible, being positive role models for their people. Great administrations, great leaders, great future for a great people. God bless the Samoas!
