Samoa Bowl 2023 Volleyball warrioresses clash initiating 3-Day Tournament

Competitive tension was at an all-time high at the DYWA Center in Tafuna on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, as the opening matches of the round-robin volleyball games marked the initiation of the Samoa Bowl 2023 3-Day Volleyball Tournament.

The tournament’s opening ceremony was set into motion by Reverend Patolo Mageo Patolo’s solemn invocation, followed by welcoming remarks from Chief of Staff and Samoa Bowl Chairman Loa Tuimavave T. Laupola.

Talauega Dr. Samasoni Asaeli, Director of Education, delivered special remarks on behalf of Governor Lemanu P.S. Mauga and Lieutenant Governor Talauega E.V. Ale further amplifying the morale of all competing teams and supporting staff members.

Director Asaeli reaffirmed Governor Lemanu’s priority of all teams’ engagements with the Samoan culture and further emphasized that this opportunity is “a way for us to come together in fellowship, to get to know each other, take something back about the [Samoan] culture, and create friendships moving forward in life.”

With Reverend Patolo Mageo Patolo’s benediction concluding the opening ceremony followed by Chief of Staff Laupola’s brief and powerful encouragement to “play smart, play hard, and play safe,” each team engaged with their respective opposing team in battle set by set.

The five games today included the following matchups:

  • 1st game - Tausala vs. Midwest

  • 2nd game - Taupou vs. West Coast

  • 3rd game - Tausala vs. Taupou

  • 4th game - Midwest vs. West Coast

  • 5th game - West Coast vs. Tausala.

The victorious teams for each game were Midwest, West Coast, Taupou, Midwest, and Tausala, respectively.
