Senate President Tuaolo Manaia Fruean is calling for a hearing over the missing $4 million public funds allegedly transferred to another bank.

During today’s session, Tuaolo expressed concerns over reports of millions of government monies missing from the government’s account and called for a hearing to determine what occurred.

Senator Utu Sila Poasa, Chairman of the Budget and Appropriation, agreed that a hearing must be called to ensure Department of Treasury Deputy Director Levi Reese and Commissioner of the Office of Financial Institutions Tuasivi John Marsh were initially asked to attend the hearing; however, it has been canceled to await the arrival of Treasurer Malemo Tausaga on the island.
