USDOA hosts farm outreach program

The United States Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency (FSA) is hosting a farm outreach activity for local farmers from 10 am to 12 noon next week, Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the Talia Family Guest House in Malaeloa (Ituau).

Presentations on the Reimbursable Transportation Cost Program (RTCP), record keeping, farm business plan and loan assistance, funding, and the benefits of tax filing will be presented by the program technicians of USDA-FSA American Samoa Service Center, Faleituau Simona Fenumia’I and Henrietta Molesi.

RTCP is subject to appropriated funding, and rescissions may apply.

For 2023, the Consolidated Appropriations Act authorized $4 million for RTCP. The RTCP Program aims to assist farmers and ranchers in Hawaii, Alaska, and insular areas who pay to transport an agricultural commodity or an input used to produce a farming item.

The payments provided by the RTCP Program are intended to offset a portion of the costs of transporting agricultural inputs and products over long distances.
